Nemp

There is much to like about Daniel Gaussmann’s Nemp MP3 player: it will monitor specific folders for new music files, it allows you to play tracks and set up playlists, it downloads album art from the web, it allows you to listen to online radio stations, it features a skinnable interface, it is free, and more. As far as music players are concerned, this one is definitely one of the better ones.

As mentioned above, Nemp is a portable application. This means that you won’t have to go through an installation process to get started with the application. You just need to download an archive, extract its contents, and run the Nemp executable.

The nice thing about the Nemp interface, besides the fact that it will take less than a minute to figure it out, is the fact that it provides support for skins. You can switch from the dark Nemp public skin to a lighter Windows default skin and you can download more skins from the web.

When you launch Nemp for the first time, you will be presented with a Configuration Wizard that will ask you if you want Nemp to periodically check for updates, save changes made to meta data, adjust the rating of your music files automatically, download missing cover art, and set Nemp as your default audio player.

Nemp comes with a nice list of features: support for all popular audio files, create and manage playlists, monitor folders for new music files, download missing cover art, view lyrics, rate songs, listen to online radio stations, Birthday Mode, automatically stop Nemp, automatically shut down the PC, and more. Seeing that Nemp is free software, you have all the time in the world to uncover all the features it has to offer.

Nemp is just a properly good audio player!
